Arguably the wildest white water in the world, rafting on the Zambezi River is an adrenaline rush not to be missed. The rapids on the Zambezi River are officially defined as “Grade 5” by the British Canoe Union (Grade 6 not being commercially run). Clients should be reasonably fit for this activity, as there is a steep walk into & out of the Batoka Gorge as well as the white water rafting activity itself. The gorge is over 100 meters deep at the Falls and increases to over 200 meters by the end of a full day raft trip. Despite this rugged terrain, the gorges below the Falls are thick with vegetation and incredibly spectacular.

We are a family of 5 ( 3 teenagers) and absolutely loved white water rafting down the Zambezi with Colgate as the Lead, and Ernest as our raft captain. At the start we were greeted with coffee and shortbread and all the info. Communication and tone was excellent throughout. It was about having safe fun for all. We tackled 11- 24 falls in the most amazing gorge and scenery and it was just a thrill and delight all round and we all felt well informed and in safe hands with Captain Ernest. The walk down and up the gorge could be challenging if you are not so fit, but only takes 10 minutes. The photographers, safety boat men and men who carried the rafts up the gorge were all so professional able and excellent. At the top a very tasty lunch and refreshments were provided before being dropped back at our hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Wild Horizons and their white water rafting trip to all. So don't just think about it, just book it, you wont be disappointed :) - Jane
